My name is Michael Johnson. I was born, lived and have not yet died. I started in 1964 in South Carolina to one day, they thought, would bring them world wide acclaim for at the time of my birth, my dark brown hair hung over my eyes. At this time, in 1964, the Beatles had just arrived in the US. Because of this I gained my first modeling gig as posters were placed on the hospital walls with my photo and caption that read THE BEATLE BABY. However, I received no credit, no pay and no acculades for my performance! This is the story board of my life! Jump to 1968- a three year old, me was in attendance in Florence, SC at a celebration of the return of two vietnam POW'S in a crowd of over one thousand, again, photo opt, newspaper reporter snapped shots of myself applauding at their return. This photograph was circulated front page the next day with my picture and caption that read "Child Greets Returning Prisoners of War" . Once again, no credit, no pay, no acculades! However, my name was mentioned in the article but in all reality I couldn't even read the article, I was only three and had not yet learned to read. (post script--I didn't know why I was clapping, I didn't know what is a Vietnam or what a POW was)!! LOL. Jump to 1969-moved from SC to Charlotte, NC; attended school, and was an average student. In junior high school I had my first taste of performing in front of a large audience other than churches. This was a talent show and my debute as a singer/impressionist. I dawned a blue suit with no shirt, scarves stolen from my mother and a blue cape, borrowed from my sister, and appeared as the very first Elvis impersonator on american soil, you see, Elvis had only recently passed eight months earlier and I was ahead of the curve! To a standing ovation, I threw my mother's scarves into the audience to great cheers and applause. That year all annuals were signed: Mike Elvis Johnson. Once again, no credit, no pay, and some acculades! Jump to 1980- became third member of gospel trio(Shekinah). Performing comtemporary gospel music up and down the southeastern united states. This opprotunity allowed for TV appearances, radio interviews and performances also live performances for large and small audiences.. Shekinah had been slated for a spot on America's largest christian television network (PTL Club). I was on my way! Unfortunately, two weeks (actually sixteen days), a scandel was discovered with the head of PTL and all slots were cancelled along with the founder and his wife. Once again, no credit, no pay and definitly no acculades!! (talk about a day late and a dollar short). Skip to 1986, I was fortunate in answering an ad for singer for local cover band, answered, auditioned, got gig. The name of this band was Washco. This five-member band had plans to perform in the north and south carolina areas with me sharing the front line with female singer with large attributes. After a number of gigs, consisting of eighties pop, in hotels and night clubs, a strange thing started happening, the female leads large attributes popped out from time to time leaving a bad taste in the audiences' mouth. Fortunately, the drummer had a friend who was an agent who put us, myself and he, in touch with a national act in search of a drummer and a frontman. Answered, auditioned, got gig. This band was The Spontanes/Harley Hogg and the Rockers. For the first time, I got some pay!! some credit!! and lots of acculades!! This gave me the opportunity to open for and perform with such well-known acts as Archie Bell, Alabama, Hank Williams Jr., Chuck Berry and 38 Special. This went on for seven years. Jump to 1993-- After seven years on the road, and one wife, decided to start my own musical career. Formed my troop and called it Smokey and the Roadhouse Band. This has allowed me to continue on my road to reach my entertainment goals. Performing fifty out fifty-two weeks a year. I am still performing at present with a brief turn in 2001, signed and recorded a gospel CD for Sonic Records. Release date was given, debute CD release concert was organized, venue was booked, tickets were printed, sound and stage crew hired, acts rehursed, forty-eight hours before doors opened was told"hold up at the pressing plant" CD's would arrive two weeks late! Show carried on, however, once again, no credit, no pay, and no acculades and at that time, no CD's! (post-script--I did finally receive the CD's). Matter of fact, still have some cases in attic. Makes good coaster's and great Christmas gifts. In the past forty-four years I've had the chance to do some commercials and appear as an extra in one feature film-Stroker Ace. I'm now trying to broaden my scope and my horizons. Have LOTS of talents, LOTS of dreams and LOTS of ambition!!!!! Because of my experiences, I believe I have a lot to offer. Have studied all aspects of film making, music, television and theatre. Attended Carolina School of Broadcasting, majoring in radio and TV broadcasting. For a sample of my on-stage performances and head-shots you can go to myspace.com, search Michael Johnson srhb or youtube and search Smokey and the roadhouse band. Thank You for reading this, hope you enjoyed it and once again for all of this-----no credit, no pay, no acculades. STILL WAITING!!

To be rich and famous... and then come home in the evening, spend time at home with my loving family with the knowledge that I took a chance, when everyone said it couldn't be done," Wendy's is hiring and so is McDonald's and Burger King", with the reward of knowing that through it all, I stood tall and did it my way!! I have always looked for SUCCESS in the music business as a vocalist, lead singer and have been doing so contiously for the past thirty years with a taste of success, but not enough! I want it ALL!! for myself and my family!
